Youth Sports in Delran: An Overview

Delran is a sports town. From the Delran Athletic Association's recreational leagues to the high school's competitive teams, there are opportunities for kids of every age and skill level to get involved, stay active, and be part of a team.

The heart of Delran youth sports is the Delran Athletic Association (Delran AA), a volunteer-run organization that has been serving the community for decades. They offer seasonal leagues in baseball, softball, soccer, football, basketball, lacrosse, cheerleading, and field hockey. Most programs are open to children ages 4 through 15, with some programs extending through high school.

Spring

Spring Sports (March - June)

Spring is the busiest youth sports season in Delran.

Baseball

Boys ages 4-15. Tee-ball for the youngest players through competitive divisions for older kids. Travel baseball is also available for advanced players.

Softball

Girls softball leagues through the Delran AA. Travel softball available for more competitive players. A great way to learn the game and make friends.

Flag Football

Coed ages 4-13, running April through June. A non-contact introduction to football that focuses on fundamentals, teamwork, and fun.

Lacrosse

Instructional "Scoopers" program for boys and girls in PreK through grade 2. A fun introduction to the sport with an emphasis on basic skills and coordination.

Fall

Fall Sports (September - November)

Fall brings football, soccer, and more to Delran's fields.

Football

Tackle football for ages 8-14 through the Delran AA. Focus on fundamentals, safety, and sportsmanship. Equipment is typically provided.

Soccer

One of the most popular youth sports in Delran. Recreational and travel soccer options are available for boys and girls of all ages.

Cheerleading

Sideline and competition cheerleading through the Delran AA. Teaches teamwork, athleticism, and school spirit. Open to various age groups.

Field Hockey

Youth field hockey programs for girls. A growing sport in Delran with strong participation at the high school level.

Winter

Winter Sports (December - February)

When the weather turns cold, Delran kids play basketball indoors.

Intramural Basketball

Boys and girls grades 1-8, running December through February. Focus on skill development, sportsmanship, and having fun. No tryouts required.

Travel Basketball

Competitive travel basketball for boys and girls grades 4-8. Tryouts are required. Teams compete against other towns in the Burlington County area.

Instructional Basketball

Introductory basketball program for younger children. A low-pressure way to learn the basics of dribbling, passing, and shooting in a fun environment.

How to Register and What It Costs

Registering for Delran youth sports is done through the Delran Athletic Association website at delranaa.org. Registration typically opens several weeks before each season starts.

  • Recreational leagues typically cost $50 to $150 per season, depending on the sport and age group.
  • Travel teams cost more, usually $200 to $500 per season, plus uniform and equipment costs.
  • Equipment is sometimes provided (football, lacrosse) and sometimes your responsibility (basketball shoes, soccer cleats, gloves).
  • Scholarships are available through the Delran AA for families who need financial assistance. Do not let cost be a barrier.
