Trash and Recycling in Delran

Delran Township provides curbside trash and recycling collection to all residents through a municipal contract with Republic Services. The system is straightforward once you know the rules. This guide covers pickup schedules, what can and cannot be recycled, bulk item disposal, and what happens on holidays.

The township also offers a Public Works drop-off facility at 900 Chester Avenue for items that do not go in regular curbside pickup. The Public Works Department can be reached at (856) 461-7737 for questions about your specific street or situation.

Schedule

Weekly Pickup Schedule

Trash is collected weekly on your designated collection day. Recycling is collected on the same day as trash. Each household receives bins for trash and recycling.

Set-Out Rules

Per Delran ordinance, trash should not be placed curbside before 5:00 PM the day before your scheduled collection. Bins must have their lids closed securely. Place bins at the curb with wheels facing the house.

Recycle Coach App

Delran uses the Recycle Coach app to help residents track pickup schedules and get reminders. Download it from delrantownship.org/recycle-coach/ or your app store. The app also tells you what goes where.

Bulk Items

Bulk Pickup and Special Disposal

Delran offers bulk item pickup for larger household items that do not fit in your regular trash bin.

Regular Bulk Items

Sofas, furniture, mattresses, and similar large household items are collected on each regular trash day. No appliances or hazardous materials are accepted in bulk pickup. Simply place items at the curb on your collection day.

White Goods (Appliances)

Refrigerators, ranges, water heaters, freezers, air conditioners, washers, and dryers are picked up on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. You must call Public Works at (856) 461-7737 to schedule a white goods pickup. Refrigerants must be properly evacuated by a certified technician.

Branch and Leaf Collection

Branches are collected from April 1 through October 2. Branches must be no longer than 8 feet and no more than 4 inches in diameter. Leaf collection runs from the second week of October through the fall. Grass clippings and pine needles should be bagged (no heavier than 40 lbs) and placed out for regular trash pickup.

Drop-Off Facility

The Public Works Yard at 900 Chester Avenue accepts household hazardous waste and other items that cannot go in curbside pickup. Hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM, and the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM (except holiday weekends).
